FAYETTE, IA -- No. 20 Winona State University gained at least a share of second place in the final Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with a 77-61 win over Upper Iowa University.
The win extended the Warriors' winning streak to five games.
The Warriors finally took a one-point, 12-11, lead with 15:54 left in the opening period. From there WSU outscored the Peacocks 27-12 for a, 39-32, lead at half.
In the second half the Warriors pushed their lead to the biggest of the game at 20 points, 70-50, with 4:22 let to play.
David Johnson led a quartet of double-figure scorers for the Warriors with 15 points, ten coming in the second half.
Joel Armstrong scored ten points in the first half and finished with 13, while
Josh Korth and
Luke Doedens each netted ten points.
Armstrong also had a team-high seven rebounds and recorded two assists and one steal.
