ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Winona State track and field team won six event titles and broke two school records Friday in a strong showing at The Showcase on the campus of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
Freshman Hope Willenbrink broke the school record in the 1000-meter run, winning the race in a time of 3:03.40, topping WSU's previous school record of 3:03.64 set by WSU hall of famer Maureen Ryan.
Megan Seidl broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash, finishing second with a time of 25.18.
Senior Jordan Paschke won the 5000-meter run with a personal record time of 17:47.43, the fourth-best mark in program history.
Tamika Tucker took second place in the 60-meter dash, as her time of 7.87 was good enough for a personal record and the fifth best mark in WSU history.
The 600-meter run saw the Warriors take second and third. Taylor Vogel's mark of 1:39.49 was a personal record and fourth best mark in team history, while Kari Schneiss' third place finish in 1:40.79 was a PR and the ninth-best mark in the record book.
The Warriors' two 4x400-meter relay teams took first and third, respectively, as Megan Seidl, Katie Bagley, Vogel and Brittany Schyvinck won with a time of 3:58.55 and the team of Kari Schneiss, Ali Skluzacek, Megan Grochowski and Ali Johnson finished in 4:06.24.
Amanda Kaiser took second in the mile in 5:09.13, while Schyvinck recorded a third place finish in the 400-meter dash in 59.35.
Junior Haley Reinke won the high jump, clearing a height of 5'3", while Alyssa Weiler finished third at 4' 11". Reinke also added a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 35' ¼".
The Warriors also won both throwing events, as Ashley Thooft took first in the shot put with a 44' 11 ½" toss. Heather Buckler also took third at 42' 1 ½".
Kaitlyn Long easily earned the weight throw crown with a heave of 69' ¾".
Next on the schedule for the Warriors is the NSIC Multi Championships on Sunday in Mankato before heading to the Red & White Open at the University of Wisconsin Friday, February 19.
