One of the top wrestlers from the golden age of the sport at Winona State, Ron Oglesby helped lead the Warriors to a conference title in 1970 and a third place showing at the NAIA National Championship that year. As an individual, Oglesby placed second for Winona State at the national meet while earning the team's Most Valuable Player award. A three-time AAU All-American, Oglesby was invited to the United States Olympic training camp in 1968. He was a member of the US World Cup team and was the US National Freestyle Champion in 1970. Oglesby went on to be a successful high school wrestling coach, being named to the Illinois Wrestling Coach's Hall of Fame in 1994 and coaching eight future NCAA Division I National Champions.
