Scott Opfer was a leader on and off the field who helped elevate Winona State University football to greatness in the 1980’s.  In his rookie season Opfer stepped into the middle-linebacker spot and over the next four years was a vocal, physical, high-impact player for the Warriors.

As a team Captain, Opfer helped guide the Warriors to the 1983 NIC Championship in a season that included wins over top conference rivals and NCAA D1 opponent Western Illinois.  For his leadership role, Opfer racked up numerous post season honors and was named Defensive MVP by his coaches and teammates.

After leaving WSU, Scott followed his passion for both business and sports to work as a television sportscaster, college football commentator and business owner.  Today he may be best described as a serial entrepreneur, launching more than a dozen different companies and brands over the course of his career. Opfer is also the Founder and President of the WSU Football Players Association (FPA) and is a longtime high school football coach.

Scott is married to Hall of Fame, All-American and National Champion gymnast Tracy (Harvey) Opfer.
Together they have 4 children (3 girls/1 boy) all of whom were standout high school and collegiate athletes, including son Austin Opfer who also played outside linebacker for the Warriors.  The Opfers were also the host family for former Warriors defensive lineman Kinjo Omar from Saipan of the Northern Mariana Islands.  Both Austin and Kinjo were members of the Warriors 2012 Mineral Water Bowl Championship team.
