MARSHALL, Minn. - #22 Southwest Minnesota State (13-1, 8-1 NSIC) snapped Winona State's winning streak, beating the Warriors 79-55 on Friday night. The Mustangs scored 40 first half points, taking an 11-point halftime lead. Winona State (7-6, 4-5 NSIC) was led by
Tommy Gathje, who scored 11 points.

The Warriors held a five-point lead after
Isaiah Gray hit a layup with 16:37 left on the clock. The Mustangs would respond by scoring eight straight points to take a 16-13 lead. The Warriors would take the lead back briefly at 17-16 but again the Mustangs responded with a run, scoring eleven straight points. Winona State was within three, 32-29, with 3:18 left in the half. Unfortunately, the Mustangs ended the half on an 8-0 run and grabbed a 40-29 halftime lead.

Southwest Minnesota State outscored WSU 15-1 in bench points in the first half. Both teams had the lead on three occasions in the first 20 minutes.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 16 quickly in the second half and the Warriors never recovered. Winona State got the deficit back to single digits by the eleven-minute mark but could not get any closer. Southwest Minnesota State would run away late, winning by 24.

Riley Bambenek finished with ten points and has scored in double figures in every game this season.
