Warriors Go 2-0 on Sunday

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Winona State won both of their games on the final day in Missouri to improve to 19-6 on the season. The Warriors beat Fort Hays State 11-3 in six innings before taking down Nebraska-Kearney 4-0.
 
Game One vs Fort Hays State
 
The Warriors scored nine runs over the last three innings to pick up an eight run win over Fort Hays State.
 
Katelyn Kolb's sac fly to center field in the second inning put the Warriors in the lead.  In the next inning Lani Van Zyl doubled the Warriors lead by driving in Jamee Schleis.
 
In the fourth inning both McKenna Larsen and Paige Keegan drove in a run to push the Warriors lead to four.
 
Fort Hays State got back in the game, scoring three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Winona State responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning. The first run scored via an error. Jamee Schleis would then connect for a three run homer to left, putting WSU up 8-3.
 
Mariah Schultz ended the game in the sixth inning with a three homer to left field. Jaida Reynen picked up her fourth win, allowing three unearned runs and five hits.
 
Game Two vs Nebraska-Kearney
 
The game was scoreless through the first three innings of play as pitching dominated the game. The Warriors would explode in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on four hits. Katelyn Kolb scored via an error to put them up 1-0. Lani Van Zyl would triple home Paige Keegan and McKenna Larsen to make it 3-0. Van Zyl scored the final run of the inning, crossing home plate after Mariah Schultz singled.
 
Nebraska-Kearney never really challenged in the final four innings as Jordyn Kleman held them in check. Kleman would allow just three innings in seven innings of work, striking out six.
