ROSEMONT, Ill. – Winona State University's offense powered three victories to cap a four-game winning streak to conclude play at the Lewis Dome Invitational over the weekend. The Warriors opened Saturday afternoon with a 13-1 victory over William Jewell and finished the day with an 8-2 triumph over Missouri S&T. WSU ended the weekend with a 10-2 win over Wisconsin-Parkside.
Jamee Schleis did the heavy lifting against William Jewell with four RBI. The senior went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a bases-loaded walk.
McKenna Larsen and Lani Van Zyl each also had two-hit performances and scored a pair of runs.
Larsen completed the five-inning affair on the mound while allowing one run on one hit to go along with five strikeouts.
Jordyn Kleman tossed her second complete game of the season against Missouri S&T. The sophomore scattered five hits over 7.0 IP and allowed two runs while striking out five batters.
Rylee Stout went 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and recorded her second home run of the season.
Ann Smolenski had a 2-for-4 performance and drove in two runs.
The Warriors finalized the weekend by run-ruling Wisconsin-Parkside in six innings. Winona scored at least one run in five of the six frames, including a five-run outburst in the second inning.
The offense produced 12 hits for the second time over the weekend with eight of the nine starters recording at least one hit. The top four hitters in the lineup combined to go 7-for-13 with eight RBI and four runs scored.
Van Zyl drove in three runs and scored once. Mariah Schultz and Alison Nowak drove in two runs apiece. Schultz and Katelyn Kolb each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Samantha McLean and Carly Kordich both went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Larsen and Katie Schlegel split the work in the pitching circle. Larsen allowed two runs (one earned) over 3.0 IP in the starting role. Schlegel made her second scoreless appearance of the weekend. The junior scattered four hits over 3.0 IP and struck out two batters in relief.
Winona State improves to 7-2 overall at the conclusion of the weekend.
The Warriors' next 10 games with be played in Clermont, Florida on March 3-8.
