WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University made short work of the University of Minnesota Crookston on Sunday morning at the Winona Tennis Center with a dominant 7-0 victory in the Warriors' final match of the regular season.
Winona State (9-7, 8-3 NSIC) has secured the three seed for the upcoming postseason tournament slated to begin in two weeks. Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-15 (0-11) after being swept by WSU.
The Warriors posted clean 6-0 wins across the board in all three doubles matches to secure the opening team point and the rout was on from there. No. 1 Beth Murman and Kaisey Skibba improved to 12-4 (8-3 NSIC) with their win. No. 2 Tayla Card and Kendra Kappes won their fourth straight match and No. 3 Brooke Holloway and Faith Young successfully team together for the first time this year.
At Singles No. 3 and No. 4, Skibba and Card each posted 6-0, 6-0 victories, respectively. Card finishes the regular season with a team-best 11-5 record. Holloway (No. 5) and Mya Lubben (No. 6) also posted 6-0, 6-0 triumphs in their first singles action of the year.
Winona State will return to action on April 13-14 for the NSIC Tournament in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
