Warriors add two NCAA DI transfers to 2020 recruiting class

The Winona State Men's Basketball team just got a lot stronger this offseason as they added two NCAA Division I transfers in Owen King and Alou Dillon.

Owen King, 6'3", Guard, Sophomore, South Dakota State/Caledonia (MN) HS

Owen King comes to Winona State after a two-year stint at NCAA DI South Dakota State University. While at SDSU, King appeared in 50 games for the Jackrabbits including one start. King had a solid freshman campaign, averaging 4.1 points on 49% shooting and 2.3 assists.

King had a storied career at Caledonia HS, scoring 2,437 career points while being named a finalist for Minnesota Mr. Basketball his senior year. He was a four-time first team all-conference selection and helped Caledonia to runner up finishes at the state tournament in 2015 and 2018. King was also an incredible athlete on the football field, throwing for 2,800 yards and scoring 55 total touchdowns in a senior year that saw him named the 2018 AP Minnesota Football HS Player of the Year.

"We are thrilled to add Owen to our basketball program" stated Head Coach Todd Eisner.  "Besides being a very talented basketball player, the best way to describe Owen is he is a "winner."  He brings championship intangibles to Warrior Basketball and is someone who will fit right in with the work ethic our current players have established as the standard for our program.  With the loss of Caleb Wagner to graduation, we believe Owen will have an opportunity to help our team immediately and I know he is excited about that.  It is great to have Owen back "home" and we look forward to an exciting two years in McCown with him at Winona State!"

Alou Dillon, 6'7", Forward, Redshirt Sophomore, South Dakota State/Wauwatosa (WI) West HS

Alou Dillon comes to the Winona State men's basketball team from South Dakota State, where he played the past two seasons after redshirting his first year. Dillon participated in 42 games at SDSU and had a solid sophomore campaign as the backup power forward, averaging 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52% in league play.

While at Wauwatosa West HS, Dillon scored over 1000 points in his career and was named WBCA Division 2 first-team All-State his senior year. During his senior season he was also named the Woodland Conference player of the year with averages of 17.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game.

"Today was a really good day for Winona State Basketball with the addition of Alou Dillon to our program" said Coach Eisner. "Alou is a very talented player who has the ability to be a factor for us with his ability to score all over the court.  With his size and athleticism we know he will be able to help us score in the paint, but he also fits in so well with our system because he can step away from the basket and can really shoot the ball from the 3-point line.  We expect Alou to have an immediate impact on our program when he arrives in August.  And with the connection he already has with Owen from their time together at SDSU and now he can reconnect with Kevion from their HS playing days, we think Alou's transition to Warrior Basketball will be very smooth.  We are really excited to have Alou as a WSU Warrior!"
