For the Warriors, today's win against Concordia-St. Paul was vital towards keeping their playoff hopes alive. While Head Coach Todd Eisner probably cares more about staying in the playoff hunt, it was a milestone day for him as well. With today's victory, Eisner has now reached 500 wins for his career, earned across 23 seasons in college basketball. 

Eisner's 500 wins have come at Viterbo (79), Bellevue (225), Benedictine College (16), Midland (96), and Winona State (84). The ability to win at multiple coaching stints is a testament to Eisner's desire to succeed.  

With the win today Winona State moves to 6-5 overall (4-4 NSIC South) while Concordia St. Paul falls to 1-11 overall (0-8 NSIC South).

The first half of today's contest was similar to yesterday's game as the Warriors couldn't quite pull away from the pesky Golden Bears. After trading buckets to open the game, the Warriors took the lead for good eight minutes into the contest on a three by Kevion Taylor. With Winona State up by just three with six minutes left in the frame, Taylor, Luke Martens, and Owen King would stretch the lead to eight, 29-21 over the next four minutes. Taylor would close out the half with an extremely difficult leaning three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Warriors a 33-26 halftime lead.

In the second half, Connor Dillon hit a baseline three to give the Warriors a 52-42 lead with 10:55 left in the game. Winona State would never let the lead get under double digits again as they used 11 second half points from Owen King to coast to a 77-58 victory.

After the game, Head Coach Todd Eisner said "I am really pleased with the weekend sweep. I thought our guys did a much better job both nights defending with urgency."

The Warriors were led in scoring by Taylor with 22, followed by King (16), Devin Whitelow (10) and Andrea Lo Biondo (10). Taylor led the way with four assists while Luke Martens grabbed 10 boards for the Warriors.

Winona State shot 28-61 (.459) from the field and 12-31 (.387) from behind the arc.

The Warriors will travel to Upper Iowa for a pair of must win games next weekend. Friday's matchup is set to tip at 6 p.m., while Saturday's game will start at 2 p.m.
