Winona, Minn. - It's never easy facing the top team in the country, and Augustana showed why they are No. 1 in their two-game sweep of Winona on Saturday. The Vikings outhit the No. 20 Warriors 17-7 on the day en-route to 10-1 and 6-2 victories.
With the sweep Augustana moves to 38-4 (26-2 NSIC) while Winona State falls to 31-10 (20-8 NSIC).Â
Game One
The Vikings got on the board early, with leadoff hitter Mary Pardo hitting a home run on just the second pitch of the game. One more run by Augie put the Warriors in a 2-0 hole after one.
Augustana tacked on two more runs in the third and used a big six-run fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Teaghen Amwoza used a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to give the Warriors their only run of the game.
Jordyn Kleman (19-4) struck out six in the loss.

Game Two
Winona State started off hot in game two, scoring two runs in the first inning on an
Alison Nowak blast to centerfield.
Augustana used a big four-run fourth inning to take the lead back from the Warriors, and they never looked back. The Vikings kept Winona State at bay for the rest of the game on their way to a 6-2 victory.
Emilee Erickson (1-1) took the loss for the Warriors.Â
Nowak led the Warriors at the plate going 2-for-3 with two RBI's.
Winona State will turn right around as they celebrate senior day tomorrow against Wayne State. The first game of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
