ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Winona State University men's basketball team will look to salvage a NSIC split today, Saturday Jan. 22 as they take on the Northern State University Wolves in Aberdeen, S.D. 

The Warriors (10-6, 6-5 NSIC) fell at MSU - Moorhead 74-58 on Friday night, while the Wolves (10-7, 7-5 NSIC) upset No.13 Upper Iowa, 90-81. 

Read on for more regarding Saturday's showdown which will tip off at 6pm in Wachs Arena on the campus of Northern State University.

Winona State Warriors:

Winona State holds a 10-6 overall record and 6-5 in the NSIC. 

Against MSU - Moorhead last night, Nick Klug hit a season-high 16 points coming off the bench for Winona State in a 74-58 loss. 

The Warriors - Dragons contest was a low-scoring affair early on, with the two teams tied at 10-10 with ten minutes elapsed in the first half. 

Last weekend, WSU fell to #5 Minnesota Duluth 71-86 on Friday but bounced back for a 94-72 victory over St. Cloud State on Saturday.

In the win over SCSU, Alec Rosner paced all scorers with a career-high 34 points. That mark is the third highest within the NSIC this season.

WSU's defense has been a focus all year and they hold the third-best defense in the NSIC, allowing just 68.3 points/game to their opponents. Pairing that with scoring 73.4 points/game themselves, the Warriors have a 5.1 scoring margin.

On offense, Winona State is averaging 8.7 3-pointers made per game, which is the fifth most in the NSIC.

Individually, Rosner leads the pack with 17.4 points/game which is ninth in the league. Devin Whitelow is the other Warrior to average double figures with 11.3 points/game.

Luke Martens is averaging 8.1 rebounds each game, good for sixth in the NSIC.

Whitelow is in the top-10 within the conference in assists (3.8/game) and assist/turnover ratio (2.0).

The Warriors travel to MSU Moorhead on Friday, Jan. 21 for a 7:30 meeting, and on Saturday, Jan. 22 they tip off at Northern State at 6:00pm.

After the Warriors wrap up their travel to MSU Moorhead and Northern State, WSU returns home for contests against the University of Mary and Minot State on Jan. 28-29. 
 

Heading into the weekend, what's up with the Wolves:

Wolves enter today's game 13-8 overall and 7-6 within the NSIC, where they are tied for second in the NSIC North division.

NSU upset #13 Upper Iowa at home on Friday night, 90-81.  

Northern State swept SMSU and Sioux Falls last weekend at home, each games were single-digit victories.

NSU shoots the deep ball at the highest mark in the NSIC, averaging 9.8 3-pointers each game at 34.4%.

Northern State averages 73.4 points/game offensively and allows 69.5 points/game for a 3.9 scoring margin.

The Wolves have four individuals averaging double figures, and Sam Masten leads them all with 15.1 points/game. Jordan Belka is not far behind as he puts up 14.9 points per game. Jacksen Moni (13.8) and Augustin Reede (10.2) round out the double-digit scorers for NSU.

Augustin Reede is atop the NSIC in 3-point field goal percentage, hitting shots from beyond the arc at a .425 rate. He is fourth in the NSIC making 2.6 threes/game.

Belka is leading the Wolves with 6.8 rebounds/game and 0.6 blocks/game.

Masten also leads Northern State in minutes (34.7/game), assists (3.7/game), and steals (1.4/game).

Northern State leads the NSIC in attendance, averaging 2,207 fans at each of their home games. They host Upper Iowa on Friday night and the Warriors on Saturday evening, as both games are a part of their "I Hate Winter" weekend.

Northern State will travel to Concordia, St. Paul and Minnesota State next weekend, for games on Jan. 28-29.
