Alec Rosner named NSIC First Team in men's basketball

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has announced the 2021-22 men's basketball all-conference teams and one of the most prolific scorers for the Warriors has been named to the prestigious list.

Alec Rosner, a junior from Appleton, Wis., was named to the NSIC First Team on Thursday, following a season in which he scored over 30 points in a game on three separate occasions.

Rosner was named the NSIC South Division Player-of-the-Week on January 31 after a pair of particularly impressive outings in which scored 57 points across two games, including a 36-point effort against UMary on Friday, Jan 28.

On the breakout season for Rosner, the Kimberly High School product scored 20 points or more in 12 games.  Rosner gave the Warrior faithful a glimpse of what the season had in store when he scored 28 points in the first game of the year against Pittsburg State, a 79-68 Warrior win. When NSIC play commenced, Rosner rose to the occasion, scoring 34 points versus St. Cloud State, dropping 36 on the University of Mary and notching 31 on the road at Minnesota State, Mankato.

Aside from scoring, Rosner finished the year tied for second on the team in steals (25) and rebounds-per-game (4.3) and was third in assists (31).  He started all 26 games for head coach Todd Eisner, leading the team in minutes played at 878.

Rosner's contributions were key to a 15-win season for Winona State, the fourth time since 2015 that WSU has reached or exceeded 15 victories. Rosner was 302-of-632 (47.78%) from the floor and 58-of-137 (42.34%) from three-point territory on the year.  On February 11, Rosner went 10-for-10 from the free throw line against Sioux Falls and delivered a season-best 14 rebound effort versus nationally ranked Upper Iowa on January 2.
