WSU women's tennis takes down SCSU 5-2

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University women's tennis team earned the doubles point and took four singles matches to defeat St. Cloud State, 5-2.

The Warriors cruised to victories in each doubles match, dropping just three games total highlighted by Beth Murman and Sara Anderson's 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Rachel Kelly battled to a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the top singles position and Murman took care of business in her singles match at the No. 2 position, without dropping a game. Rina Niehoff clinched the match for Winona State with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles. Brooke Jorgensen wrapped the night up for the home team with a three-set thriller where she dropped the first set but won the final two to carry home the 5-2 team victory for WSU.

The Warriors improve to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the NSIC after tonight's win. Winona State hosts Minnesota Duluth tomorrow, March 19, at 4:30pm back at the Winona Tennis Center.
