SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Winona State University women's tennis suffered a 0-7 loss to powerhouse Augustana in their final match of the regular season.
Augustana, the 20th ranked team in the nation, jumped out to a hot start taking all three doubles matches over Winona State to start ahead 1-0.Â
The Warriors dropped all six singles contests, but played several matches closely.
Rachel Kelly battled to a third set at the top singles position with the 67th ranked singles player in Division II, but fell 3-6, 6-4, 3-6.Â
Beth Murman also played a nationally ranked opponent at second singles and dropped the first set 1-6, but battled back before ultimately falling 5-7 in the second set to the 63rd ranked singles player in the country.
Sara Anderson forced a first-set tiebreaker, but dropped No. 4 singles 6-7, 0-6.
Winona State (14-4, 9-2) will now prepare for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament on Apr. 22-24 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
