WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University Athletics Department announced a new partnership with AQ Athletics, in an effort to promote better mental health within the department.

Melanie Brunsdon said, "Stress, exhaustion, and compromised mental health is pronounced in college athletics now more than ever. To help our student-athletes, coaches, and staff achieve their full potential, we are excited to partner with AQ Athletics to build confidence, motivation, and leadership. I anticipate this programming to be truly transformational for individuals and our department as a whole."
Stasia and Rey Rivera, co-owners and founders of AQ Athletics states that understanding the simple science of stress and how one is wired is the game changer that helps individuals get past thinking and into consistent action. AQ Athletics has worked with thousands of athletes to improve motivation, confidence and leadership skills.
Winona State welcomed over 360 student-athletes back to campus on Sunday, August 21 with programming headlined by AQ Athletics. The department also introduced the 2022-23 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive leadership team. The SAAC Executive team is Beth Murman (tennis), Brooklyn Schyvinck (track & field), Joe Demro (football), Ty Gavin (football), Riley Harmon (soccer), Rachel Kelly (tennis), Lydia Lange (volleyball), Mitchell Buerkle (cross country), Wyatt Taylor (cross country) and Grace Van Hyfte (women's golf).
Prior to the event, Winona State student-athletes, coaches and staff shared a pizza dinner and fellowship outside Somsen Auditorium.
