WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University softball team extended their win streak to six games after sweeping Minnesota Crookston in today's doubleheader.
The Warriors used strong pitching to secure a 4-1 win in game one and a 2-1 walk-off victory in game two.
Game One: Winona State 4, Minnesota Crookston 1
Carly Engelhardt opened the game for the Warriors with a solo home run to left center in the bottom of the first inning to give WSU an early lead. The lead didn't last long as UMC tied it up in the second inning on an unearned run.

Savannah Serdynski singled up the middle to bring
Ashlee Chantos and
Cammi Riemer across the plate as WSU took a 3-1 lead.
Abbie Hlas settled in and allowed just four more hits the rest of the game while striking out three batters. Hlas pitched a complete game and allowed just one unearned run to move to 11-4 on the season.
Zoe May notched a pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth to provide an extra insurance run and WSU earned the 4-1 victory.
Teaghen Amwoza and Chantos each collected two hits during the game to lead WSU at the plate.
Charlotte Dombrowski took the loss in the circle for Minnesota Crookston, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits.
Game Two: Winona State 2, Minnesota Crookston 1
In another pitchers' duel, Winona State strung together just enough offense in the final inning to pull out the victory on a Serdynski walk-off double to bring
Logan Anderson across the plate and earn the victory.
Abby Smith started in the circle for WSU and pitched a complete game to earn the win. Smith allowed just one run on five hits while striking out four batters.
Minnesota Crookston scored first in the top half of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. WSU answered right back on an Engelhardt sacrifice fly which brought
Macy Brodin across the plate to tie it at one apiece.
Neither team was able to string together enough offense to score until the Warriors walked it off in the bottom of the seventh.
Five Warriors recorded one hit as Engelhardt and Serdynski drove in the two Warrior runs.
Thayda Houser was delivered the loss for UMC after 6.2 innings pitched with two runs on five hits.
Winona State will be in action next for a doubleheader at Concordia-St. Paul on Tuesday, April 11.
