BURNSVILLE, Minn. –
Alessandro Trenta highlights the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Golf postseason awards after earning NSIC Player of the Year and NSIC Newcomer of the Year, and
Gabe Goodman earns All-NSIC First Team honors for Winona State University men's golf.
Trenta and Goodman teamed up to represent Winona State as the only institution to have multiple golfers named to the All-NSIC First Team.
Trenta, a freshman from Killwangen, Switzerland, is the first-ever NSIC men's golf athlete to be named both NSIC Newcomer of the Year and NSIC Player of the year in the same season.
Trenta began his collegiate career with a statement win at the Super Regional Preview, carding rounds of 73 (+2) and 68 (-1) to be the only golfer to finish under par and earn medalist honors in his collegiate debut.
Throughout the season, Trenta averaged a 73.0 scoring average across 22 rounds while earning five top-five finishes in nine events. Trenta also tied the school single-round scoring record with an eight-under 64 at the Warrior Invitational in Henderson, Nev. on March 9.
Trenta's impressive season paved way for an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, with the Central/Midwest Regional being held at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn. on May 11-13.
Goodman, a senior from Lakewood, Colo., notched a scoring average of 74.0 over the course of the season and ended his career by earning medalist honors at the 2023 NSIC Men's Golf Championships.
Goodman earned three top-10 finishes, including the first-place finish at the NSIC Championships and a runner-up finish at the Super Regional Preview.
Head coach
Jeff Straight and the Warriors earned seven top-five team finishes during the 2022-23 season, including a team championship at the Super Region Preview in September.
