WINONA, Minn. - Following a record-breaking 2022-2023 women's cross country campaign and stellar track & field seasons, Winona State has finished in a tie for fourth among the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Program rankings. The award represents success of each program across the cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
The
USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award honors the institution that has achieved the most success in each academic year (spanning the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons) based on the institution's finish at the NCAA Championships.
Winona State and NSIC-foe Minnesota State finished tied for fourth in the final standings, both with 20 points total. Adams State took top honors, while Grand Valley State was the runner-up program for the year. WSU earned an 11th-place national finish as a team in the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championships on Dec. 2 in Seattle, Wash. Winona State would go on to claim a fifth-place finish in the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 11 in Virginia Beach, Va. and a fourth-place at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo. on May 27.
