WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team gears up for an important NSIC week facing off against the University of Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State University, Mankato.
The Warriors are 9-5 in the NSIC just half a game behind Minnesota State at 9-4 in the NSIC and half a game ahead of UMD at 8-5 in conference play. Winona State is set to face off against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, January 29 at 5:30pm inside McCown Gymnasium and on Saturday, February 1 at 1pm WSU heads to Mankato, Minnesota to face off against MSU.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors hold a 14-6 record so far this season and are 9-5 in the NSIC.
- Isaiah Thompson hauls in 9.6 rebounds per game, good for third in the NSIC and 21st nationally in Division II
- Luke Haertle is third in the conference in points per game at 18.0 after his career high 35-point night against Northern State.
- Winona State is second in the NSIC from the charity stripe shooting 75.4% on the year.
- The Warriors won their last matchup on the road against Northern State with Haertle securing the win from the free throw knocking down six at the end of the game.
Minnesota Duluth Notes:
- UMD holds a 13-6 record on the year, 8-5 in the NSIC.
- The Bulldogs head coach Justin Wieck enters his seventh season at the helm of the Minnesota Duluth squad.
- As a team UMD is shooting 47.8% from the floor and 35.8% from three-point range.
- Charlie Katona leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 16.2 points per game.
- Leading Minnesota Duluth in rebounding is also Charlie Katona with at 6.6 per game.
- UMD is coming off a loss to Minot State 68-75 last week.
- The Warriors won the matchup against the bulldogs earlier this season 72-71 in overtime, in Romano Gymnasium.

- MSU holds a 13-8 record on the year, 9-4 in the NSIC.
- The Mavericks head coach Matt Margenthaler enters his 24th season at the helm of the Minnesota State squad.
- As a team MSU is shooting 45.8% from the floor and 35.4% from three-point range.
- Kyreese Willingham leads the Mavericks in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
- Leading Minnesota State in rebounding is Kaden Kirkman at 6.2 per game.
- The Mavericks are coming off a win against Northern State defeeating them 87-59 last weekend.
- The Warriors defeated MSU at home earlier this season 88-75.
