BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Winona State's Luke Haertle earned NSIC Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Year and a spot on the 2025 All-NSIC First Team while seniors Connor Drew and Isaiah Thompson were named to the All-NSIC Second Team.
Luke Haertle, a sophomore from Hartland, Wis. earned All-NSIC First Team Honors while also being named the 2025 NSIC Newcomer of the year in the league. Haertle led Winona State in points (17.4), assists (3.6), steals (1.5), and blocks (0.5) during the regular season. Haertle collected six double-doubles on the year, two games of 30 points or more, and 11 games of 20 points or more. Haertle reached double figures in all but five games for the Warriors this season. His career-high 35-point performance against Northern State, featuring 10-of-14 shooting and nine rebounds, was a season high for Winona State.
Connor Drew, a senior from Huxley, Iowa earned a spot on the All-NSIC Second Team. Averaging 14.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, Drew showed his offensive abilities with a career-high 27-point performance against Augustana, highlighted by a career-high six three-pointers in the contest. He recorded six games of 20 points or more and reached double figures in 21 out of the team's 28 games this season.
Isaiah Thompson, a senior from Lansing, Mich. was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Thompson led the team with 8.9 rebounds per game, placing him among the nation's top 40 rebounders. Thompson was third in the conference in double-doubles, collecting a team-high ten on the year. He complemented his rebounding with 13.5 points per game, including one 30-point outburst, five games of 20 points or more, and reached double figures in 22 or the Warriors 28 games this season.
The Warriors are coming off an NSIC Tournament First Round victory over Wayne State and have their eyes set on the quarterfinals, as they will square off against Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00pm at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.
