INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Winona State men's basketball is ranked No. 2 in the most recent NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings, as released by the NCAA today.
The Warriors reached the NSIC Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive year and are receiving votes in this week's NABC Coaches' Poll.
Winona State is joined by six other NSIC schools in the last of three regional rankings. Concordia-St. Paul (3), MSU Moorhead (4), Minot State (5), Minnesota Duluth (6), Minnesota State (7), and Southwest Minnesota State (8) are also ranked this week. Washburn holds the No. 1 ranking while Southern Nazarene (9) and Ouachita Baptist (10) round out the top 10.
The NSIC and the
Great American Conference and the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 41-team NCAA DII Central Region this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 15-16, 18. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Men's Basketball Selection Show will air on www.NCAA.com on Sunday, March 9 at 10 p.m. (CT). The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 25, 27, 29 at The Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
