Welcome to Winona State University Student-Athlete Services Program. Winona State University is a dynamic learning community that provides rigorous, high quality baccalaureate educational opportunities to students. The WSU Athletic Department enhances the University’s mission by attracting outstanding student-athletes that strive for academic as well as athletic excellence. Student-Athlete Services guides the student-athlete into obtaining a balance of academic and athletic success while traveling the path to graduation.
The mission of Student-Athlete Services is to give student-athletes the maximum opportunity of academic achievement by providing an enriching environment. Student-Athlete Services will render quality academic support and life skills development for student-athletes. To provide the best possible collegiate experience, the staff will work with coaches, faculty, and administrators to empower student-athletes.
Student-Athlete Services will oversee the progression of student athletes from freshmen registration until the student athlete walks across the stage to receive his or her diploma from Winona State. An academic advisor works with the student-athlete by aiding in the academic progression of the student-athlete. Our philosophy in advising is treating the individual first, the student second and the athlete third. The following is a list of services Office of Student-Athlete Services offers:

Student-Athlete Services participates in the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. This program helps student-athletes develop the life skills and insight necessary to successfully overcome challenges in their everyday lives.
Winona State University student-athletes also participate in Warrior Study Tables. Study tables are structured sessions that provide academic support by monitoring and developing the student-athlete into becoming a self guided learner. Study tables are required as first semester freshman, but a student-athlete can earn their way out of this mandate if they achieve a satisfactory GPA. That GPA is dependent on the specific sport. If a student-athlete’s GPA falls below the guideline, they will again be required to utilize study tables.
It is critically important that athletes and coaches understand that a primary objective of this office is to help student-athletes by academically self-reliant and responsible. You must become advocates for your own academic success. Do this by attending review sessions, utilizing tutors, and accepting that your academic success in your responsibility. Services offered at the Student-Athlete Services Center and nothing more than “state of the art” tools to help you achieve your academic goals.
