Madeo "Moon" was born in Chicago, Illinois and he and his lovely wife Rosemary were married in 1944 in Barksdale, Louisiana.  Moon served in the US Air Force from 1942-1946.

He later got his BA degree from Ripon College and MS degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He came to WSU in 1956 after a successful career as a football coach, track coach, physical education director and athletic director at high schools in Sandwich, Ill. and Iron Mountain, Mich.

While at Winona State, he was first the assistant football coach, then head coach for 11 years as well as serving as the head baseball coach in 1957 & 1958 and the head golf coach from 1959 to 1978.  Under his leadership, WSU won championships in each sport.  He retired from WSU in 1978.

Moon states he gives because, "the football program has proven to produce not only tremendous athletes but more importantly outstanding mentors and leaders of our school and community."
