Chad Tuescher (pronounced Tesh-er) has provided a steady hand on the Warrior bench since joining the Warrior staff in 2008. Over his tenure with WSU, Tuescher has helped Winona State reach the NCAA Regional Tournament 11 times as a program. The Warriors have produced some of the most impressive seasons in program history with Tuescher in the dugout, including eight seasons with 40 or more wins and three seasons in which WSU notched 50 or more victories.
In his first season on the Warrior bench in 2009, Tuescher helped guide the Warriors to 50 wins for the first time in school history. The team went 50-13 on the year, including a 20-6 mark in the NSIC, and defended its NSIC Tournament title. The Warriors swept through the NCAA Central Region Tournament on their home field and capped their 14-game win streak with two more victories over Mesa State in the NCAA Super Region Tournament to claim the first regional title in program history. The Warriors also advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series for the first time and claimed its first ever World Series victory, a 2-1 win over Le Moyne.
In 2019, Winona State set a program record for wins (53) while putting together a staggering 31-game winning streak that saw the Warriors go 30-0 during NSIC play to claim back-to-back regular season titles for he first time in program history.
With Tuecher’s help, the Warriors have won the NSIC Championship twice and the NSIC Tournament Championship four times.
Tuescher has helped tutor 13 different All-American selections in his tenure, and two NSIC Player of the Year winners.
Prior to arriving at Winona State, Tuescher spent 12 seasons coaching at Verona (WI) Area High School. He was an assistant at the school for eight years before spending four seasons as head coach. As Verona’s head coach, Tuescher guided the Wildcats to an impressive 71-16 mark, which included a runner-up finish in 2008 in the WIAA Division I State Softball Tournament. Tuescher led the Wildcats to four consecutive appearances in the state tournament to go along with three Southern Badger Conference championships.
In his 12 seasons in Verona, as both an assistant and head coach, Tuescher led the school to 11 conference titles and nine state tournament appearances.
Tuescher earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broad Field Social Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1995.
