Joey Mueller was named the Director of Athletic Communications in June of 2024.
Mueller is responsible for managing all athletic communication efforts for Winona State's 15 NCAA athletic programs through social media, press releases, statistics, video board production, and maintaining the Winona State Athletics website. Mueller also serves as the lead administrator for all Warrior home events and handles season and single-game ticket sales.
At Winona State, Mueller has gained experience in several different roles within the athletic department. Most recently, Mueller was the Coordinator of Events and Ticketing during the 2023-24 academic year where he served as the lead administrator for all Warrior home events and oversaw ticket sales, along with contributing to the internal and external areas of the department. He first joined the Warrior Athletics staff in 2021 as the Assistant Athletic Communications Director and helped publicize the 15 Warrior athletic programs in a variety of capacities.
Mueller is an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC) and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Hutchinson, Minn. native earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from Bethel University in 2021. At Bethel, Mueller competed on the men’s tennis team, was an assistant coach for the Bethel women’s basketball team, and served as a member on Bethel’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He then earned his master's degree in Leadership Education: Sport Management from Winona State in 2023.
