WSU Completes Weekend Sweep With 3-0 Win Over Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Winona State volleyball team completed the road weekend sweep, downing Bemidji State 3-0 in straight sets Saturday afternoon in Bemidji.

Danielle Rampart provided a spark for the Warriors early, recording three kills in the first four points of the match. The freshman finished the first set with eight kills on 12 attempts with just one error to help the Warriors hit .289 compared to just .163 for the Beavers to earn a 25-19 win.

The Warriors were even more dialed in during the second set, rattling off the first nine points of the set.  Despite the Beavers hitting an even .300, the Warriors hit .306 for the set to come away with a 25-18 win.

Both teams hit below .200 in the third set, but the Warriors recorded 13 kills to just seven for BSU to emerge victorious with a 25-17 win and a match sweep.

Rampart finished the day with a match-high 17 kills and a .250 hitting percentage.  The freshman also recorded 12 digs to earn her ninth double-double of the season.

Taylor Goar capped off her great offensive weekend with 12 kills and just one error for a .379 hitting percentage.

McKenna Larsen put up a match-high 25 assists to go with 11 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.

Defensively, Jamie Cairncross joined Rampart and Larsen as Warriors to reach double digits in the digs department to lead the team with 13. Goar and Kalyn Biever each had nine digs.

WSU continued its success from the service line, picking up five aces in the match. Biever and Rampart each picked up two, while Goar had one. The Warriors rank third in the NSIC in service aces with 93 on the season.

Winona State (13-3, 8-2 NSIC) has just a short amount of time to prepare for the seven-time defending national champions, as it heads to St. Paul Tuesday to face Concordia-St.Paul at 7 p.m. inside the Gangelhoff Center.
