BISMARCK, N.D. – The Winona State volleyball team may not have had the start it wanted, but finished strong to post a 3-1 win at U-Mary Friday night in Bismarck.

Danielle Rampart picked up right where she left off, compiling 23 kills – just one off her season and career high – while hitting a fantastic .391. She also added eight digs to the stat sheet, barely ending her streak of seven straight double-doubles.
The Marauders quickly put WSU in a 6-1 hole to start the game, forcing a quick timeout. The Warriors would rebound to get as close as 13-11, but the Marauders used a .500 hitting percentage in the opening set to pull away and post a 25-19 victory.
It was all Warriors from there, turning the tables on U-Mary in the second set. WSU jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead and increased it to an insurmountable 15-4 advantage before cruising to a 25-11 victory to tie up the match at 1-1. The Warriors hit .367 for the set with 15 kills and just three miscues.
WSU had to work to claim the third set, facing a 9-5 deficit at one point. The Warriors then used a 5-1 run to tie it up at 10-10. Â The set would be close for a while until Winona State opened up a 21-16 lead and closed it out with one of Rampart's 23 kills for the 25-21 win.
What started out as an even fourth set turned out to be a runaway victory for the Warriors. Up just 10-7, WSU went on an 8-0 run to make it 18-7 and from there went on another 7-2 run – a 15-2 run in all – to close it out with a commanding 25-9 win and a 3-1 match victory. The Warriors hit a strong .344 in the final set.
For the match, WSU hit .268 while holding the Marauders to just .145.
Taylor Goar put together another fine performance, earning her 10th double-double of the season with a 13-kill, 14-dig effort while hitting at a .312 clip.
Kylea Roeglin hit .417 with six kills, while
Lauren Kudronowicz tallied seven kills.
McKenna Larsen passed out a match-high 43 assists along with eight digs, while
Jamie Cairncross also recorded double-digit digs with 11.
Winona State (19-6, 14-5 NSIC) brings its five-game winning streak into the regular season finale tomorrow night when it travels to Minot State for a 6 p.m. first serve.
