No. 16 Warriors Cruise Past UW-Eau Claire, 85-44

WINONA, Minn. – The No. 16 Winona State women's basketball cruised to an 85-44 win over UW-Eau Claire Wednesday night in McCown Gymnasium.

Kayla Timmerman scored a team-high 15 points in just 15 minutes of action to lead the Warriors. In all, WSU had four score in double figures, with Connor Nagle finishing with 11 and Alexis Foley and Tara Roelofs each adding 10 apiece.

The Warriors used a 14-0 run to jump out to an 18-4 lead capped off by an Emily Wirth 3-point basket before an Emily Passint jumper put WSU up 23-10 at the first quarter buzzer.

A 9-2 run to start the second quarter extended the lead to 22 points with a 34-12 lead. The Blugolds would cut the lead back down to 13 with 3:41 to play, but a 10-2 run to end the half put the Warriors back up 21 with a 46-25 halftime lead.

Connor Nagle drilled a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter to stretch the advantage to 25 points at 55-30 before settling for the 57-37 halftime score.

The fourth quarter was dominated by the Warriors, as they outscored the Blugolds by a 28-7 margin, with the game's final score of 85-44 ending as the largest margin of the game.

The Warriors got strong contribution from its reserves, accumulating 31 bench points in the win. As a team, the Warriors shot 55 percent from the floor while holding the Blugolds to 28 percent.

Roelofs led the Warriors with eight rebounds, while Hannah McGlone and Jenny Weiland each added six.

Winona State (5-0) returns to McCown Gym Saturday when it hosts Viterbo University at 4 p.m.
