NEW ORLEANS – The Winona State track and field team sits in 17th in this week's USTFCCCA Division II Track & Field poll.
The Warriors currently have 13 provisional qualifiers for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship and one automatic qualifier.
Winona State is coming off a strong showing at the Phil Esten Challenge where five WSU athletes set season-best provisional qualifying marks.
The Warriors had three provisional qualifiers in the hammer throw, with
Kaitlyn Long setting the 14th best mark in Division II, while
Abbey Ristow and
Nicole Nelson set the 24th and 28th, respectively.
Hannah Mueller also set a season-best provisional qualifying mark in the long jump, setting the 34th best mark in Division II this season.
The Warriors also have an athlete qualified for three different events.
Alissa Rausch currently holds the second-best mark in Division II in the discus, the seventh spot in the shot put, and is currently ranked eighth in the hammer throw.
This week, Winona State will be competing at the Kip Janvrin Open on Thursday in Indianola, Iowa and at the Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
