No. 12 Warriors Sink School-Record 17 3-Pointers In 98-57 Win

MINOT, N.D. – The No. 12 Winona State women's basketball team set a school record with 17 made 3-pointers in a 98-57 throttling of Minot State Saturday night at the MSU Dome.

The 17 3-pointers tops WSU's previous school record of 16 set against Bemidji State on Feb. 21, 2009, and is the most 3-pointers made in an NSIC game since Wayne State hit 17 against the Warriors on Feb. 21, 2014.

Six of WSU's 3-pointers came at the hands of senior Connor Nagle, who went 6-of-12 from long range, just one off her career high of seven made triples. Alexis Foley added four, Liz Evenocheck hit three, Emily Passint hit two and Tara Reolofs and Jenny Tuttle each sank one.

WSU not only controlled the long range game, it controlled the glass as well with a massive 47-18 edge in rebounding. Hannah McGlone had a game-high 10, while Kayla Timmerman had seven.

The Warriors wasted no time storming out to an early lead as 10 first quarter points from senior Alexis Foley helped the Warriors storm out to a 14-2 lead and led 22-12 after one quarter of play. WSU never looked back, controlling a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game as a jumper from Hannah McGlone put WSU up by 20, 42-22, at halftime.

The Warriors kept pouring it on, as its largest lead of the game – 45 points – came on a trio of occasions with less than three minutes to play in the game, with one of those on the sharp shooting of the freshman Evenocheck, who was a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the game.

The 98-54 victory was the most points WSU scored since a 99-35 win over Crown College on November 14, 2014.

Nagle finished with a game-high 20 points, while Foley scored 18 and Kayla Timmerman added 12. Nagle and Foley each dished out a game-high five assists as the Warriors had a season-high 27 assists in the game compared to just eight turnovers.

Winona State (17-2, 10-2 NSIC) returns to McCown Gymnasium next weekend for a pair of important NSIC South matchups against Augustana and Wayne State.
