WINONA, Minn. – Winona State (14-2, 5-2 NSIC) completed a 2-0 home weekend with a sweep of Minnesota Crookston (25-15, 25-15, 25-12). The Warriors held the Golden Eagles (6-9, 2-5 NSIC) to .060 attacking on the afternoon. Winona State had 42 kills and just six errors while hitting .474.
The Warriors jumped out 9-4 in the first set and Minnesota Crookston never recovered. The lead would grow to double digits at 21-11, before Winona State closed it out 25-15.
The Golden Eagles stayed with the Warriors early in set two after a service ace tied the game at eight. However, the UMC momentum would not last long as Winona State went on an 8-2 run to take a 16-10 lead. Minnesota Crookston could only cut the deficit to five before falling 25-15.
Another run in the middle of a set helped the Warriors run away from Minnesota Crookston in the third set. The Warriors grabbed their largest lead of the set when
Taylor Goar ended the match with a kill, giving Winona State a 25-12 win in the final set.
