WINONA, Minn. – The #16 Winona State (11-2, 6-1
NSIC) women's basketball team had a 57 percent shooting night and flew past Minnesota
Crookston (1-9, 1-5
NSIC), 80-56, Friday night. Four Warriors scored in double figures on the night. Hannah
McGlone added her third consecutive double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
In the first quarter the teams exchange baskets until the Warriors began to create separation a few minutes into game. A three-point play by
McGlone would spark the Warriors, who led by 10 at the end of the quarter.
The Warriors held the Golden Eagles to 11 points for two straight quarters and 30 percent shooting from the field. A jumper from
Jenny Tuttle would put the Warriors on top 11 points a few minutes into the second quarter.

Roelofs and
McGlone extended the Warrior lead to 29-14. With the help of Tuttle and Madison
Worke, the Warriors would head to the locker room with a 39-22 lead.
In the third quarter the Warriors created their largest lead of the night at 19 points. The Golden Eagles would fight back and cut the deficit to 11 points with three minutes left in the quarter. A three-pointer from
Makena Panning stopped the UMC momentum and put the Warriors up 14 with two minutes left to play in the quarter.
The fourth quarter saw 11 points from the Warrior bench as Emily
Wirth,
Worke and
Kayla Schaefer all chipped in.
Worke would have four steals and two fast break jumpers in her time on the court. The Warriors shot a hot 67 percent in the last quarter of action to cap off their victory.
Overall the Warriors shot 57 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc and made 11 of 16 free throws. The Golden Eagles shot 35 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc and made nine of 16 free throws.
Tuttle led the Warriors with 17 points as she was 7-10 from the field.
Roelofs made 6-11 shots from the field and finished with 14 points. Kayla
Timmerman added 10 points and six rebounds.
With Kayla
Timmerman's two blocks in the game, she is now eight blocks away from moving into second place all-time in WSU history.
The Warriors are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host Bemidji State (3-7, 0-6
NSIC) for a 4 p.m. tip.
