#17 Warriors Welcome Wayne State and Augustana

WINONA, Minn. - The #17 Winona State (15-3, 10-2 NSIC) women's basketball returns to McCown as they will host Wayne State College and Augustana University Friday and Saturday. The Warriors picked up a pair of NSIC wins as they beat Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State this past weekend. To see a full preview, see this week's game notes.

Last Time Out: Four Warriors scored in double figures to help the Warriors beat the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth 70-60, on Friday night.

The team had three players reach double figures on Saturday against St. Cloud State. Two of their three double-digit scorers recorded double-doubles as the Warriors escaped St. Cloud State winning 71-64.

Last Time vs. Wayne State:  The Winona State women's basketball team used a strong third quarter to surge past Wayne State 73-55 Friday night at Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb.

Last Time vs. Augustana: In a back-and-forth overtime battle, the Winona State women's basketball team was on the losing end in heartbreaking fashion, falling to Augustana 85-84 at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls. (NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament)

24 Straight: Winona State comes in at #17 in the newest WBCA Top-25 Coaches Poll. The Warriors moved up three spots from last week's ranking after winning another set of NSIC games. This marks the 24th consecutive week the Warriors have been nationally ranked in the WBCA Top-25.

Record in McCown: This season the Warriors have started 6-0 on their home court. The Warriors have won 14 consecutive games on their home court and have started 2017 2-0 in McCown.

Roelofs In The Records: Senior Tara Roelofs continues to add to her career point total since joining the 1,000 point club earlier this season. Roelofs has 1,192 career points so far and has moved up to 11th all-time. Katie Wolff at 10th place with a1,244 points is within reach for Roelofs as she currently averages 13.7 points per game.

Tuttle For Three!: Senior Jenny Tuttle is currently shooting 48 percent from three-point land, connecting on 28 of 58 attempts. 

12 Point Difference: With three losses on the season, the Warriors have only lost by a combined 12 points. 

In The NSIC: The Warriors are currently shooting 46 percent from the field to lead the NSIC in field goal percentage. The Warriors are also shooting, an NSIC best, 38 percent from behind the arc. 

In The Nation: The Warriors' field goal percentage of 46.4 ranks 11th in the NCAA.

Block Party: Led by Kayla Timmerman with 40, the Winona State defense out-blocks its opponents 68-27 so far. Timmerman has moved into 2nd lace all-time in career blocks with 170. She is 63 shy of 1st place. Last year Timmerman finished the season with 92 blocks. 

Timmerman ranks 5th in the NSIC in blocked shots. She currently has 40, with an average of 2 per game.

60+: Thus far the Warriors have only suffered losses when they did not reach 60 points. In their only three losses they scored 51, 57 and 59 points.

70 or Less: The Warriors have held everyone of its opponents to 70 points or less. three times have they allowed more than 65. They are 2-1 when their opponent scores more than 65.

Leading The Way: A trio of Warriors are averaging double figures per game. Tara Roelofs leads with 13.9, Kayla Timmerman with 11.4 and Jenny Tuttle with 11.3 points per game. Hannah McGlone is averaging just shy of 10 points per game at 9.8.
