ST. PAUL, Minn. – Javian Roebuck rushed for a career-best 170 yards as No. 13 Winona State University extended its winning streak to seven straight with a 28-10 road triumph at Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday night.
Roebuck has rushed for over 100 yards in three straight games and has scored five touchdowns in the Warriors' past four games.
Winona State improves to 7-0 (3-0 NSIC South) for the first time since 1998.
The Golden Bears kicked a first quarter field goal which proved to be the first time Winona trailed in the first quarter this season, and the Warriors responded with 28-unanswered points.
The home team looked to take a 6-0 edge, but a missed field goal attempt led to the first Winona score of the night. WSU took advantage of favorable field position and Roebuck capped a five-play, 33-yard drive with his first touchdown of the game.
Winona owned a 7-3 lead at halftime on the cold and rainy night where the score remained until the waning minutes of the third quarter when Dareen Beenken found Roebuck for a 16-yard touchdown pass, extending the Warrior lead to 14-3.
Landon Jacobson furthered Winona's rushing efforts with a pair of touchdowns on the ground to seal the round victory in the fourth quarter. The freshman running back has scampered into the end zone five times this season.
Winona has rushed for over 200 yards in four consecutive games in the midst of its seven-game winning streak.
The smothering Warrior defense limited CSP to just 116 total yards of offense.
Luke Teague led the defensive effort with eight tackles, three of which were for a loss, and one sack. Carter Duxbury recorded six tackles and a quarterback hurry.
Jake Balliu returned a pair of kickoffs for 73 yards, one of which went for 44 yards for WSU.
Winona State returns home host Wayne State (4-3, 2-1 NSIC South) next weekend on Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at Maxwell Field.
