Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors blanked in finale at Mankato, earn seven seed in NSIC tournament

MANKATO, Minn. – Winona State University concluded its regular season on Sunday with a 4-0 setback at No. 20 Minnesota State. The Warriors suffered shutouts in each of their last two regular season contests, but enter the postseason tournament on Wednesday with a clean slate.

Mankato registered a pair of goals in each half of Sunday's game en route to their 14th shutout of the year to claim the 2017 NSIC Women's Soccer Championship.

The Mavericks uncorked 28 shots in the win, including 12 on goal. Rachel Oleson recorded eight saves in the losing effort for WSU. Oleson moved into second place all-time in program history over the weekend for career saves (322).

The Warriors were able to get off 10 shots and put four on goal, but MSU's Taylor Livermore was perfect in four save attempts.

Winona State finishes the season at 9-8-1 (8-6-1 NSIC), having bested last year's eight-win record.

The Warriors will travel to second-seeded Bemidji State for the first round of the conference tournament on Wednesday for a 1:30 p.m. game. WSU dropped a 4-1 contest in Bemidji earlier this season.
