No. 14 Winona State completes weekend sweep

BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 14 Winona State University went on the road and picked up a pair of NSIC sweeps this weekend.

The Warriors defeated Minnesota-Crookston on Friday 25-23, 25-9, 25-21, and earned a straight set victory over Bemidji State on Saturday by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

Danielle Rampart, Jordan Runge and Maria Wrage each floored 10 kills apiece on Friday at Crookston to pace the Warriors' .303 hitting percentage.

WSU dominated the second set, only committing one hitting error, and allowing just nine Golden Eagle points.

Becca Pagel led the defensive effort with 22 digs, while Rampart chipped in 11 for her ninth double-double of the season. Kate Masberg also recorded a season-best 12 digs.

Rampart also led the offensive attack on Saturday, drilling 10 kills.

Winona had six blocks in the sweep of Bemidji, having recorded at least six blocks for the fifth time this year.

McKenna Larsen totaled 53 assists over six sets on the weekend trip.

Winona State (12-4, 6-2 NSIC) has now won five straight matches, each in straight set fashion.

The Warriors return home next weekend to host No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth. The Top 25 matchup is slated for 6 p.m. in Winona, Minnesota on Friday, October 13 to kick off Homecoming.
