Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

McGlone and the Warriors remain unbeaten

Winona, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team (4-0) defeated Waldorf University (2-6) Tuesday night by a score of 88-63.

Three Warriors reached double figures, including senior Hannah McGlone who tallied the 13th double-double of her career.

McGlone led the Warriors with a career-high 20 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists on the night. Rachel Novotny matched McGlone's point total (20) and Allie Pickrain added another double-digit night to her young career (10).

Winona State started off trailing Waldorf for the better half of the first quarter; something the Warriors were not used to. McGlone tied the ballgame at 13 with a layup under the basket, and the Warriors never looked back. Waldorf kept it close the remainder of the first quarter, before Winona pulled away over the final 30 minutes of play.

Winona had its lowest scoring output in the second quarter, but still managed to increase its lead as Waldorf's offense went cold only shooting 5-of-18 from the floor. At the break, the Warriors owned a 42-33 advantage.

In the second half, Winona State focused on getting the ball underneath to the post position. The Warriors had 46 points in the paint on the night; 28 of which came in the second half. The final 20 minutes is where McGlone also took over. She tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds in the final two frames, leading the Warriors to another lopsided victory.

Winona State continued its solid defense pressure through four games, forcing 14 Waldorf turnovers and capitalizing on those mistakes with 15 points.

The Warriors will reconvene after Thanksgiving to open up conference play as they travel to Upper Iowa on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
