Warriors Set For Quarterfinal Match Against Augustana

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State (21-8) women's basketball team will play Augustana (23-7)  in the NSIC tournament quarterfinals. The game will take place at the Sanford Health Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S. D., Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Monday at 2:30 p.m. More information can be found at the championship website.

AGAINST THE VIKINGS: This will be the third times these two teams have played each other this year. The Vikings have had the upper hand winning the last two matchups this season. Most recently the Warriors fell to the Vikings a week ago on February 17th.

LAST TIME OUT: Winona State women's basketball head coach Scott Ballard got his milestone 500th win Wednesday night as the Warriors (21-8) defeated the University of Mary in the opening round of the NSIC tournament. 

500: In defeating the University of Mary, head coach Scott Ballard became the 29th Division II coach to accomplish 500 Division II Victories.

ALL NSIC: Jenny Tuttle and Tara Roelofs were named NSIC Second Team All-Conference on Thursday. Tuttle and Roelofs were the two leading scorers for the Warriors this season. Roelofs was a NSIC Named to the NSIC All-Freshman team in 2013-14. This is the first All-NSIC All-Conference Honor for Tuttle.

This season Tuttle averaged 12.8 points and 3.6 assists per game. She had 20 games with at least ten points, including a season high 23 points at Minnesota State.

Roelofs finished just behind Tuttle with 12.6 points per game. She averaged 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game as well. On the year she had 22 games with at least ten points and scoring over 15 in nine contests.

NSIC TOURNAMENTS: Going into last Wednesday night's game against the University of Mary, the Warriors were 5-7 in the NSIC Tournament first round games under head coach Scott Ballard. Two of those times the Warriors have lost in the quarterfinals, two of those times they have advanced and lost in the semifinals and once they have advanced and won the tournament title (2010-11).

20 WINS: The Warriors have reached another 20-win season, this is the 6th time under Ballard and in Winona State  history. This is the third consecutive year the Warriors have reached the 20-win mark.

IN THE NATION: The Warriors' field goal percentage and three-point percentages both rank in the top 10 in NCAA Division II. Their 46 percent field goal percentage ranks 9th and their 38 percent three-point mark ranks 7th.

IN THE RECORDS: Sophomore guard Liz Evenocheck had a career night against Wayne State as she scored a career high 27 points. In doing so, she knocked down seven three-pointers, making her one of 14 players that have done so, which is the 5th most in a single game. 

Senior Tara Roelofs continues to add to her career point total since joining the 1,000 point club earlier this season. Roelofs has 1,306 career points so far and has moved up to 8th all-time.

Kayla Timmerman holds 2nd place all-time in career blocks with 202. She is 31 shy of 1st place. Last year Timmerman finished the season with 92 blocks. 

Hannah McGlone has cracked the top ten all-time list in rebounds with 613 career rebounds, placing her in 8th place.

Timmerman is also currently ranked 13th all-time in career rebounds with 547.

IN THE NSIC: Hanna McGlone currently ranks 5th in the rebounding category with 209 rebounds and averaging 5.3 per game.

The Warriors are currently shooting 46 percent from the field to lead the NSIC in field goal percentage. The Warriors are also shooting, an NSIC best, 38 percent from behind the arc. 

Timmerman ranks 6th in the NSIC in blocked shots. She currently has 47, with an average of 1.7 per game.
