Winona State Makes it Seven Straight

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Winona State (7-1) had another successful day on the diamond, winning game against Lindenwood and Missouri S&T. The Warriors beat Lindenwood 4-0 to start the day before winning 4-3 over Missouri S&T.

Vs Lindenwood

Winona State started fast as Katelyn Kolb led off the game with a triple. She would a batter later when Jamee Schleis singled up the middle to drive her in.

The Warriors doubled their lead in the second thanks to some small ball. Samantha McLean started the inning with a single up the middle. She moved to third following a sac bunt from Allyson O'Herron. Lani Van Zyl's bunt single made the score 2-0.

Jordyn Kleman kept Lindenwood off balance early, allowing just two hits in the first four innings of work. Lindenwood led off the fifth with a single but a double play quickly ended the mini threat.

In the sixth inning, the Warriors tried to add to their lead, putting runners on second and third with two outs. Unfortunately, a strikeout would end the WSU threat.

The seventh inning provided the Warriors a chance for some insurance runs, a chance they took and ran with. A single by Schleis and a fielder's choice RBI by Keegan made the score 4-0. Lindenwood put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the inning but failed to score as the Warriors clinched a 4-0 win.

Vs Missouri S&T

The Warriors struck early in the second game of the day as well, scoring a run in the bottom of the first. McKenna Larsen drove in Katelyn Kolb on a RBI ground out to second base.

Missouri S&T would knot the game at one in the top of the third, thanks to a WSU throwing error. After a scoreless bottom of the inning and top of the fourth, Shaye Witte put the Warriors back on top. Whitte's single to left field drove in Van Zyl and put WSU back on top.

McLean gave the Warriors some breathing room in the fifth, driving in Schleis with a single to right center. O'Herron made it 4-1 with her single up the middle, driving in pinch runner McKenna Gutt. Missouri S&T made things interesting in the top of the seventh. They would get within two at 4-2 and have runners on first and second with two outs. Another run would cross the plate and Missouri S&T was within one at 4-3. Kleman relived Larsen and picked up a one out save, getting the final batter of the game to fly out to right center.

Winona State would win their seventh straight game with the 4-3 victory. Tomorrow the Warriors take on Wayne State (Mich.), looking to complete a five game trip to Illinois with five victories.
