Offense Held In Check as Warriors Fall Twice

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Winona State (16-5) fell twice on Friday in Missouri, losing by a score of 2-0 both times. Pittsburg State (19-7) won 2-0 before over the Warriors prior to WSU losing 2-0 to #9 Central Oklahoma (14-4). The Warriors offense was held in check by a couple good pitchers, managing just four hits on the afternoon.

GAME ONE

Winona State would get a hit with one out in the top of the first against Pittsburg State but left the runner on base. The Warriors would end up not getting another hit the rest of the way. They did put four more runners on base but could not get on the board.

The Gorillas scored twice in the second inning and made the lead hold up. The Warriors did threaten in the top of the sixth when Katelyn Kolb and Jamee Schleis led off with two walks, unfortunately neither would score and the WSU went down quietly in the seventh.

GAME TWO

Both teams had a runner on in the first inning but did not score. Central Oklahoma struck in the top of the second with a leadoff homer. Winona State had a runner reach third in the bottom of the inning but could not get the runner in.

The Warriors had a runner in each of the first five innings but they could not get a runner homer as Central Oklahoma built up a two run lead. Winona State had a chance in the seventh but a ground out to second was the end of the inning and the game.

Tomorrow the Warriors take on Washburn at 12 p.m. and Northeastern State at 4 p.m.
