Early Runs Enough for Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Warriors trip to Florida ended with a 10-2 loss at the hands of Palm Beach Atlantic. Winona State (0-8) racked up six hits in the final game in the "Sunshine State". Joe Kubera connected for two hits to lead the offense.

The Sailfish scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the first to put WSU behind the eight ball. They would double their lead in the bottom of the second, scoring a run off a Winona State error.

In the top of the fourth, the Warriors loaded the bases with two outs. Treyton Larson drew a walk to drive in Nathan Krause. The Sailfish countered with three runs on three hits. During the rally, Palm Beach Atlantic had a steal of home.

Three more Sailfish runs scored in the bottom of the fifth, putting them up 8-1. After a scoreless sixth inning, two more Sailfish scored in the bottom of the seventh.

Winona State entered the ninth inning trailing 10-1. The second Warrior scored on a wild pitch during a mini rally. Unfortunately, the Warriors could not get any more runs, falling 10-2.

The bullpen pitched well for the Warriors, throwing four innings and allowing just two unearned runs.

Next up, Winona State will play a pair of games at US Bank Stadium. The Warriors play Minot State Friday at 10 p.m. before taking on Wayne State at 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.
