WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University men's golf team competed in a pair of tournaments to begin the week with half the team traveling to Owensboro, Kentucky for the Super Regional Preview and another group playing locally at Viterbo University for the Ronnie Eastman Invite.

Facing some of the top teams in their region in Kentucky, the Warriors tied for fifth in a loaded field that included 19 total teams. After winning the Ronnie Eastman Invite for two consecutive years, Winona State's team finished as the runner-up this season.

Super Regional Preview

The NSIC Preseason Golfer of the Year, Brady Madsen, led Winona State with his best two-round score of the season to place ninth individually. Madsen shot rounds of 72 (E) and 67 (-5) for a two-day total of five-under par 139. Tyler Beeck was close behind after firing a 68 (-4) in round one and closing with a 73 (+1). Beeck's total of 141 was six shots better than his previous outing this year.

Matthew Chandler carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 70 (-2). Teammate Dylan Brown matched Chandler's two-round total of 144 with identical round scores to complete the team scoring.

Winona State collectively shot a 567 (-9) at the event. The Warriors were one-under par after day and shot eight-under par on day two. Central Missouri won the tournament with a team score of 552 (-24).  

Ronnie Eastman Invite

The Warriors played two rounds at Viterbo on Monday due to impending weather on Tuesday. Winona State recorded a team score of 630 to finish second behind Kirkwood (593).

Isaac Westlake tied for second individually with rounds of 68 (-4) and 79 (+7) to shoot three-over par 147. Hamish Brown tied for 10th place with rounds of 81 (+9) and 76 (+4). Bailey Callander was next for WSU with his best two-round total of the year at 160. Brennan Rothgarn rounded out the team scoring with a 173.

The Warriors return to the links next week on October 7-8 at the Fairfield Inn Invitational hosted by Missouri Western State University.
