Warriors complete season sweep of Minnesota Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn. – No. 16 Winona State University posted its second sweep this year against the University of Minnesota Crookston for the Warriors' seventh consecutive straight-set victory over the Golden Eagles in the last eight meetings. In total, the Warriors have won eight in a row opposite Crookston and 33 of 38 overall matchups.

Winona State concluded its final regular season road trip on Saturday with back-to-back sweeps after dispatching of Bemidji State University in three sets on Friday night.

Saturday's triumph lifts Winona State (20-6, 12-6 NSIC) to its fourth 20-win season in the past five years under head coach Joe Getzin – marking just the second such occurrence in program history (1986-90). The Warriors enter the final week of the regular season siting in a tie for sixth place in the ultra-competitive NSIC standings where the top eight teams qualify for the postseason tournament.

Junior Megan Flom capped a stellar weekend with 15 kills on a .538 attacking percentage. Flom hit .519 over the weekend with 31 kills. Saturday stood as the eighth time this season Flom has hit .500 or better and the 18th time she has floored double-digit kills.

Kate Masberg needed just 22 swings to down 10 kills while adding eight digs, two service aces and a block assist to her stat line.

Winona State limited Crookston to a .000 hitting percentage thanks to five team blocks and a stellar back row effort of 65 digs – a season-best for three sets. Libero Becca Pagel tallied a team-high 23 digs while Bre Maloney chipped in a double-double of 33 assists and 13 digs.

The Warriors return home to wrap up the regular season with an absolutely loaded scheduled next weekend. Winona State hosts No. 8 St. Cloud State on Friday night before its finale on Saturday against No. 5 Minnesota Duluth.
