Winona State moves to No. 9 in final Central Region Volleyball Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The final of three NCAA Division II Volleyball Regional Rankings has been released with Winona State moving up one spot to No. 9 in the Central Region.

The Warriors (21-7, 13-7 NSIC) are coming off an impressive sweep of Minnesota Duluth to close the regular season last weekend and will look to continue their hot streak into the NSIC Tournament.

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has six of the 10 teams ranked in the Central Region: No. 2 Northern State, No. 3 Minnesota Duluth, No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 6 St. Cloud State, No. 7 Wayne State and No. 9 Winona State.

The NSIC, Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) and Great American Conference (GAC) make up the 39-team Central Region. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the GAC, MIAA and NSIC postseason tournament, with the five remaining spots awarded on an at-large basis.

A strong NSIC Tournament run could help propel Winona State into the field of qualifying teams with the NCAA Division II Volleyball Regional selection show slated for Sunday, November 25 at 6:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

The Warriors open the conference tournament on Friday, November 22 against Concordia-St. Paul. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
