Novotny, Pickrain named to All-NSIC Women’s Basketball Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Winona State University landed a pair of student-athletes on the 2018-19 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Conference Team, announced by the league office on Thursday. Rachel Novotny and Allie Pickrain were each named to the All-NSIC Second Team.

Novotny, a two-time NSIC All-Academic recipient, earns All-Conference honors on the court for the first time in her career. The post from New Berlin, Wisconsin has recorded new career highs in points (259) and rebounds (198) for the Warriors during her senior campaign. She ranks ninth in the NSIC in rebounding average (7.2) while averaging 9.6 points per game. Novotny has recorded five double-doubles this year.

Pickrain, the 2017-18 NSIC Freshman, garners All-NSIC Second Team recognition for the second straight year. The guard from Apple Valley, Minnesota leads Winona State in scoring this season (11.1 ppg). Pickrain also leads the Warriors in steals (25) and ranks second in assists (47). She is shooting 34 percent from downtown and made her way into the record book earlier this season with seven three-pointers made in a game against Minot State (fifth place all-time).

Winona State (15-12) has advanced to the NSIC Tournament quarterfinals and will take on MSU Moorhead Saturday, March 2 at 12 p.m. from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
