WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University women's tennis team completed a weekend sweep of its conference foes, dismissing Southwest Minnesota State Saturday evening at the Winona Tennis Center by the same 6-1 score it used to topple Minnesota State on Friday.
Doubles No. 1 team of Kaisey Skibba and Beth Murman remained undefeated on the season with a 6-1 victory to set the tone for the match. Tayla Card and Kendra Kappes (No. 2) were a 6-4 winner to earn the team point heading into singles competition.
In singles play, Murman (No. 1) rallied from a first set loss to win two straight for the match victory. Kappes improved to 3-0 on the year at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph. Skibba (No. 3) made quick work of her opponent with scores of 6-0, 6-4, and Faith Young (No. 5) posted a 6-3, 6-3 win. At singles No. 6, Caitlin Anderson recorded a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 comeback victory.
With the conclusion of their three-match homestand, the Warriors will travel to St. Cloud next weekend to take on both the Huskies and Minnesota Duluth. WSU returns home for a pair of matches on February 22-23.
