BABSON PARK, Fla. – Winona State University dropped a hard-fought match on Tuesday afternoon at Webber International University. Using Webber's NAIA scoring system, Winona State was edge by a final score of 5-4. Webber International is receiving votes in the NAIA women's tennis Top-25.
The Warriors' Doubles No. 1 team of Beth Murman and Kaisey Skibba continued their recent success with an 8-4 win which stood as WSU's lone victory in team action. Caitlin Anderson and Mya Lubben put up a good battle at Doubles No. 3 before losing the tiebreaker for an 8-7 (7-4) loss.
Skibba outlasted her opponent in a tough match at Singles No. 3 with victorious scores of 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3). At Singles No. 2, Kendra Kappes cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 triumph. Tayla Card picked up the Warriors' final win when her opponent at Singles No. 4 was forced to retire from the match.
Winona State (6-6) will wrap up its Florida road trip on Wednesday with a match at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg.
