Wagner and Taylor propel Warriors past Golden Bears

ST. PAUL, MINN. - The dynamic duo of Kevion Taylor (24) and Caleb Wagner (23) combined to score 47 points in an important Friday night victory over Concordia St. Paul. Andrea Lo Biondo also chipped in 13 points and nine boards in the 74-60 victory.

With the win the Warriors move to 16-11 (13-8 NSIC) while the Golden Bears drop to 8-17 (6-15 NSIC).

With 7:39 left in the opening half and the Warriors down 19-15, Kevion Taylor and Dalante Peyton hit back to back three pointers to spark a 14-2 run to end the half with a 29-21 lead.

For the game the Warriors shot 45% overall and hit 12 shots from behind the arc. This was the 24th time in 27 games that Winona State has hit at least 10 threes in a game.

Concordia managed to cut the Winona State lead to just three in the beginning of the second half, but two threes by Taylor and a layup by Luke Martins kept the Golden Bears at bay. Caleb Wagner cut through the lane for a layup with 13:50 left to give the extend the Warriors lead to 12, and they would never look back leading by around 20 points for the final 10 minutes of the game.

The big difference in the game was points off turnovers, as the Warriors scored 17 points off 15 Golden Bear turnovers. On the other end, Concordia was able to score just four points off seven Winona State turnovers. Alec Rosner led the way for WSU with a career high four steals.

The Warriors are back in action tomorrow afternoon in Manketo, Minn. as they take on Minnesota State. A win for the Warriors would guarantee them a home playoff game on Wednesday, February 26. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
