ST. PAUL, MINN. - The Winona State Warriors women's basketball team couldn't find their shooting touch Friday night in a 66-47 loss to Concordia St. Paul. WSU shot just 30.8% (16-52) from the field and 18.8% (3-16) in the loss. The 47 points put up by the Warriors is their lowest output all year.
Winona State put just two players in double figures with
Taylor Hustad leading the way with 13 points while
Emily Kieck chipped in 11.
The first quarter started off with Hustad and Kieck scoring the first 12 points for the Warriors before
Ava Sergio hit two free throws with 1:34 left in the frame.
Heading into the second period down 18-14, the Warriors outscored the Golden Bears 13-8 in the quarter to go into the half leading by one.
Alex Dornfeld came off the bench to score six in the period, including two free throws with 30 seconds left to give the Warriors the lead.
The game stayed close for most of the third period as
Emily Kieck would make a layup to tie things up at 40 with 1:50 to go in the frame. Unfortunately, it would be all Concordia from there as the Golden Bears outscore the Warriors 26-7 the rest of the way for the 19-point victory.
The Warriors are back in action tomorrow as they face the Minnesota State Mavericks in their final regular season game of the year. A Winona State victory would secure a home playoff game for the third year in a row.
